By addressing all phases of a meeting, Metron is designed to be
the only true end-to-end solution in the marketplace. This ability to provide a
unified solution is an important yet unfulfilled need that enterprises are
seeking to address.
As an extensible and scalable software platform, Metron can be accessed anytime
and anywhere by users via recent versions of commonly used web browsers (i.e.
IE, Netscape, Firefox, etc).
The core components of the Metron Platform and their major functions are
identified in the following diagram:

The Metron 1.0 architecture is divided into four logical layers:
Web Layer
The Web layer provides access for clients to the application by providing the
user experience via a web browser.
Business Facade Layer
The Business Facade layer provides interfaces to the Web layer to handle
events, attendees, sessions, suppliers, etc. The Business Facade layer serves
as an isolation layer, segregating the user interface from the implementation
of the various business functions. Apart from low-level system and support
functions, all calls to database servers are made through this assembly.
Business Rules Layer
The Business Rules layer contains the implementation of the various business
rules and logic. Business rules do tasks such as the validation of event
booking, attendee registration, travel reservations, etc.
Data Access Layer
The Data Access layer provides data services to the Business Façade and
Business Rules layers.
Deployment
The Metron architecture permits distributed or non-distributed deployment
scenarios, thereby allowing for the multiple deployment options:
-
Enterprise (i.e. Metron resides in your enterprise’s data center); or
-
Managed Service (i.e. Metron resides in Arcaneo’s data center or in a third
party data center of your choice)
Regardless of deployment option, Metron is typically installed on dedicated
application and database servers, and your entire database is automatically
backed up on a regular basis and sent via FTP to a secure off-site location of
your choice.
Metron deployment options allow for maximum control and compliance with your
enterprise’s IT policy and regional regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley and data
protection laws.
Integration
Metron is architected to easily integrate with other systems via industry
standard XML Web Services. This facilitates interaction with external systems
such as supplier systems (e.g. online travel booking, GDS), and other external
data feeds (e.g. credit card data, currency exchange data), as well as
interaction with internal systems such as ERP, HR, CRM, LDAP and other legacy
enterprise systems.
Extending Metron to interact with other enterprise systems leverages your
investment in other systems and provides a truly 360º insight into all meeting
related activities and impacts.
Standards Support
Metron is designed to incorporate industry-standard technologies including XML
and SOAP, while embracing and extending the emerging data interchange formats
of the meeting and events industry as defined by the Open Travel Alliance
(OTA).
